Peter Rose on January 28

Author: Judy Page

We are delighted to announce that on Friday, January 28th at 3pm, Peter Rose, Professor Emeritus in Sociology and Anthropology at Smith College, will be giving a lecture at the SOE on the rising tide of nationalism and nativism in Europe and its implications for education in a democracy. Professor Rose is a friend of Walt's and has presented regularly at the Salzburg Seminars. A scholar with a wide breadth of knowledge and engaging presentation style, his expertise on anti-immigration movements is especially timely given events in both Europe and the U.S. I am attaching his bio. so you can learn more about him. His wife, Hedy Rose, is also an educator and scholar with a fascinating personal history whose work is focused on war, peace, civil rights, and social justice.

We expect that the lecture, including time for Q&A, will go from 3-4pm. All members of the SOE community, including students, are invited to attend. We will plan for a reception and informal conversation with Professor Rose until 5pm. More information about location and other details will follow. In the meantime, please mark your calendars.
