March Meeting

The March 25th meeting was devoted to discussing our upcoming April 22nd get-together with Provost-in-Waiting Jennifer Turpin. Yvonne kindly took notes (which she dubbed "seconds" instead of "minutes"). Her notes are very useful to me, but would not be useful to others. Let me summarize the main conclusions of our planning for the April 22nd meeting:
  • Provost Turpin will be with us from 12 to 1 p.m. on April 22

  • Every department will take 5 minutes to introduce themselves. This will be done by a junior faculty member in the respective departments.

  • The junior faculty spokesperson will spend about 2 minutes describing the department, and another 3 minutes describing one of their current research projects. (We are doing this so Jenny gets a decent sense of the research interests amongst our junior faculty.)

  • We will be left with about 30 minutes to have a discussion with Provost Turpin about a variety of topics. Initially we'd like to hear her thoughts for the proposed Center for Teaching Excellence and the Center for Research Excellence. However, there may be time to explore other topics also.

  • We plan on setting up a second meeting with Provost Turpin in September or October.
